History & Service

FIRM HISTORY C. R. Francis / Architecture is the successor firm to three earlier firms practicing in New Bern since the early 1950's:     Burett H. Stephens-Robert H. Stephens, Architects:  1950-1956     Stephens and Cardelli Architects:  1956-1983     Stephens & Francis, p.a.:  1983-2003     C. R. Francis / Architecture p.a.:  July 2003 - INDIVIDUALIZED SERVICE C. R. Francis / Architecture retains the personalized approach of a small firm which has characterized the practice of architecture since its inception. It is in the client's best interest to work with the principals who develop and design the project. This approach, we have found, leads to clients receiving the highest quality design coupled with fiscal control during the various design and construction phases.  As a part of this approach, the firm collaborates as needed with related specialists.  Practicing in the twenty-first century competitively requires using the advanced tools available.  Thus,  C. R. Francis / Architecture adopted Revit Architecture®, being the first architectural practice in Eastern North Carolina to adopt Autodesk®'s three dimensional design program.  In a like manner, we were an early adopter [and adaptor] of the Construction Specification Institute®'s 2004  six digit specification classification system.
